“Tell Your Heart to Beat Again”
April 25-26, 2008
The title of this Healing Trauma
Seminar was very appealing to me when Nancy Quay announced it. Sandra
Sellmer,
the speaker, was warm, attractive, friendly and a caring person –
someone you
can easily love.

About the speaker:
Sandra Sellmer hails from America. She teaches and speaks internationally for Elijah House Schools. For over 25 years, she served in her local church as worship leader, women’s Bible study teacher, Sunday School teacher, education department superintendent, deaconess, prayer minister and mentor. The Lord has given Sandra a ‘mother’s heart’ and her desire is to minister with gentleness and compassion, bring healing and encouragement to those who are wounded and broken hearted.
At the Seminar:
The two-day seminar was held at our SS2 Centre. It was opened to Christians of different denominations. There were 295 registered attendees, and including the helpers, we had over 300 people packed into CBC’s upstairs sanctuary.
With the backing of the Malaysian Elijah House Team, headed by Nancy Quay and Chong Mei Lin, the seminar ran smoothly. On the first day, the SS2 toilet facilities were insufficient to cater for the great numbers. The Touch Center across the road came in handy to serve the men’s nature calls.
On the second day, we had another interruption. This time, it was more serious. Around 10.30 a.m. there was a power cut. We found out that the Electricity Board was doing some repairs. Assured that it will be fixed in an hour’s time, the seminar participants were dismissed to have an early lunch. The electricity did come back but was not stable at all. A quick decision was made – the whole seminar was moved to DUMC in Section 13, Petaling Jaya. God is good. We managed to complete the whole session by 5.30 p.m.
Seminar Contents:
Before attending the seminar, most participants were not familiar with the many aspects of trauma. It would seem that most of us have undergone some sort of trauma before and through the grace of God, we have overcome them. However, there are many who have not overcome, and these would require counseling and prayers.

Here are some of the topics covered at the seminar:-
1. The many faces of trauma
2. The devastating effects of trauma
3. Dismantling the stronghold of trauma
4. How we get stuck in trauma
5. The trauma of unmet need
6. Restoring honor (Healing the aftermath of sexual trauma)
7. Elements of the Trauma Prayer
Over the two-day sessions, Sandra had some practical lessons to teach us. She asked for volunteers who have trauma to come on stage and Sandra ministered to them. The three volunteers were indeed very brave and transparent. Through the ministering, we felt Sandra’s gentle, loving care for them which led to the Holy Spirit healing them. It is so wonderful to know that our Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross so that all can be delivered from whatever trauma we have. We have been really blessed by her ministry.
