A NEW HEART …..FROM GOD
As I sat down writing this message of thanksgiving to our Lord God Christ Jesus of Nazareth, I kept asking myself, are there ever enough words to glorify our Almighty God? NO! For all words added up can never describe God’s amazing grace and Love for His children; yet still, let me say this - ALL GLORY, HONOR, PRAISE, POWER, THANKSGIVING be to our Savior, the King of kings and Lord of lords………..JESUS!
One day, early November 2007, my husband, K Y Loh,
experienced chest
pains, so sharp that he quietly went and consulted a GP. An ECG was
taken but
the results proved normal, the heart seemed well, so, he came home. Yet
the
pain came and went following the course of few weeks. Incidentally, he
did also
consulted his own company doctor who opined that it was just work
stress or
heart burn. One month passed without doing much. When December came, he
finally
made up his mind to see a cardiologist who requested him to undergo an
angiogram. Dates were fixed for the following week after school
reopened in
January 2008.
The day finally came and Loh checked in for admission and he underwent the standard procedures. The results were not good -one artery was 90% blocked, the other 2 were 70% blocked with a lot of broken blockages along the arteries meaning you cannot do angioplasty but must go for bypass surgery.
It was shocking news for a healthy man who hardly is sick. The hard truth came from the doctor – “Go for bypass or wait to die” (not very pleasant, don’t you think?) However, he recommended his colleague, a cardiologist to attend to Loh. The next day, one look at the x-ray of the angiogram, he echoed the same words said by the first doctor. I had no idea what was going on in the mind of my hubby all these while but I knew that God must be in this situation somehow. I have been praying for Loh to have a closer walk with God and that he will never have a heart failure. (God reminded me of this prayer request while Loh was in ICU). He took away the weak heart and gave Loh a strong heart and a closer one to Him. The miracle actually happened the day he readmitted himself in the hospital for the major operation.
Firstly, we were, by God’s grace, given a preview of the ICU and what things to expect when a patient comes out of Operating Theatre, with lots of tubes sticking out of the body of the patient…URK!!!!! God prepared us mentally.
Secondly, we were required to have 3 blood donors available on that day of the operation, in case of bleeding. I requested God to provide blood of strong young men. God answered with 3 strong young men, in fact, 4! Many blood donors did volunteer, God bless them all.
Thirdly, Loh got warded in ICU just for 2 days. It is a MIRACLE!
Fourthly, he left the hospital after 3 days in the normal ward, a bit dazed, slightly weak as he did not have appetite and did not eat for 5 days but was still jovial. Loh’s journey with God continued at home while recuperating, slowly, yet steadily. I saw him reading his Bible.
The miracles did not stop there. I actually heard Loh telling a non-christian friend of his nephew who came to visit that he was willing to release his one and only daughter into the mission field if it isGod’s will for her life. Hallelujah! GOD BE PRAISED.
Fruit baskets came aplenty. Everytime I told God the fridge is almost emptied of fruits, a well wisher would drop by with a basket of nice, big delicious fruits. SERIOUS! From CNY until the time he went back to work, I have not bought any fruits for him. God supplied.
Loh went back to work on the 2nd week of April 2008 slightly after 2 months from his operation day. This operation had allowed lots of people to see with their own eyes and hear with their own ears that “The God of miracles and wonders demonstrates His awesome power among the nations” (PSALM 77:14) EL ASAH PELE.

Before I pen off, I would like to take this time to really say a big THANK YOU to ALL my brothers and sisters in Christ, including those from the CBC Chinese section who prayed for Loh since the day they heard about his chest pains until his recovery. Thank you for all your precious caring and powerful prayers lifted up to the Throne of Grace.
‘Let me share in the prosperity of your chosen ones, let me rejoice in the joy of Your people, let me praise You with those who are Your heritage” (PSALM 106:5) Thank You Father for giving us these beloved ones to be a part of our family here on earth. AMEN
Oh yeah, his pain? Like he said, “Yum Yum Thong” in Cantonese. It is only painful when he laughed or coughed.
