On 3^rd August 2008, CBC celebrated her 34^th anniversary. That morning I walked into the auditorium of SJK(C) Chee Wen where CBC was holding the combined celebration, found a seat and settled down. Immediately, I saw the words “34^th ANNIVERSARY” emblazoned on the stage backdrop. What an amazing “34!” Thank God. If not for Him this will not have happened.

 

Before I accepted Christ as my Saviour, church was just a beautiful building. But now I can explain that church means people connected and linked together because of Jesus Christ. The privilege to connect, communicate and maintain relationships with each other – for this, we give thanks to God for His grace and unfailing love. That Sunday, we also celebrated God’s faithfulness with wonderful presentations by a group of lovely children from Korea and a group of adults from Myanmar. Although I could not understand their songs, I sensed they sang and praised God wholeheartedly. They were here, singing and dancing, because of God, and for me, all these showed forth God’s grace and not merely a presentation. This is especially true of the children as I can see that they were abounding in God’s grace. When a person walks with God, his or her life becomes extraordinary.

 

Installation of Pastor Malcolm as Congre-gational Pastor of Subang-Sunway Center

 

I thank God also for giving Pastor Malcolm to us as one of our church pastors. Pastor Malcolm was installed on the same day. The tasks of a pastor are never easy. I pray that our Almighty Heavenly Father will continue to lead Pastor Malcolm, guide him, mould him and provide wisdom to him as he is a pastor chosen by Him.

 

At some point, I looked at my watch and wondered how come the sermon had still not started. Time was running short. I started to worry for the speaker -- that he might not have enough time to share God’s Word. I thank God for sending us Pastor Tony Phang, a Malaysian missionary to Kenya, to share His word. Although the message was short, it really touched me. I can remember very clearly that in his sermon, he said God wanted him to go to Africa to spread His Word. However, he struggled and asked, “Lord, why not America? Why Africa?”

 

Finally, he obeyed God and started his mission work in Africa. One day, towards the end of a church service, a big, fearsome-looking guy suddenly walked into the church. When Pastor Tony saw this guy, he thought to stop him from entering the church. This was because everyone knew that this guy was a gangster, known for being involved in all kinds of black magic.

 

However, instead of stopping this big guy from entering the church, Pastor Tony asked him, “Do you want to receive the real supernatural power?” The guy replied, “Yes, I do.” So Pastor Tony prayed for him. Surprisingly, he did not create any problems in church that day. Instead, he just left after that.

 

Then what’s even more shocking happened – he came back to church bringing along his gang of bad hats. More amazingly, after some time, he started serving in the children’s ministry and all the children like him very much. See how God completely changed this person from bad to good? That’s God’s power. Hallelujah! Praise God! From this testimony, I can see that things that are impossible to men are possible with God.

delivered an inspiring and challenging sermon.

 

After the sermon, Pastor Tony invited whoever needed prayer to go forward and he would pray for them. I stood up and walked forward because I knew I was weak and that I need God. I also knew the importance of God’s kingdom. The Bible says that we are to seek first the kingdom of God. Furthermore, we go to church not just to sing hymns of praise; so, I asked what I could do for God. All that I have, comes from God. Today I am free because of Him. Then I started to pray: “Lord, please help Your church; help Your people; help Your sons and daughters. I ask all this in the Lord Jesus’ name.” In front of His throne, I also said I was willing to learn like a child, and not to be proud or arrogant. Only be humble and obey His Word. And may the Lord guide us as John the Baptist said in the Bible, “He

must increase and I must decrease.” (John 3:30)

 

Let us serve our church wholeheartedly. God loves (and blesses) the cheerful giver. All glory, honour, power and praise belong to our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for continuously leading and guiding us. Amen.

 

3/8/308 是CBC教会庆祝34周年纪念。当天早上我步入会 堂, 找个位子 坐下, 台上很大的字幕 “34th CBC Annivesary" 吸引了我的视线, 我想这34年
一 定不简单。
在还未是基督徒之前, 教会对我来说只是一栋美丽的建筑物, 信了主之后 才知道, 教会不是建筑物那么简单, 教会乃是由一群信耶稣的人所组成的
叫作教会。既然是不同的人所组成, 而人与人之间的相处又是一门最深 的学问, 那么这34年又如何走过来呢？想想, 除了神的恩典还是神的恩
典, 感谢神的恩典, 也把这份荣耀归给我们的上帝。
当天早上有从韩国来的朋友, 当中有一大班的小朋友, 他们呈现节目, 看
见那么小的年纪在主里成长真是欣慰。还有从缅甸来的朋友, 其中一位
也献唱一首歌, 虽然我听不懂歌词的内容, 不过在他歌声里, 就从他内心 深处, 唱出了那份对神的敬拜和赞美。我不是看他们怎么表演, 乃是从
他们身上看见神荣耀的彰显。一个活在耶稣基督里的人, 生命就是那么
不一样! 当天也宣布PASTOR MALCOLM正式成为CBC 教会的牧师, 原来
要当一个牧师真的不容易, 愿主的灵带领他!
看看手表, 时间已将近散会, 怎么还没有讲道？待会传讲信息时间那么短, 会很RUSH, 真是替当天讲员紧张! 当天的讲员是Ps. TONY PHANG, 这是
我第一次听那么短 的信息, 却是有震撼人心的信息, 只有区区20分钟, 已经把神的心意完完全全表达出来了。
我记得他的信息讲到, 一次神感动他去非洲宣教, 他很挣扎, 他问: ”LORD,
WHY NOT AMERICA? WHY AFRICA?“ 最后他还是顺服了圣灵。宣教 的事工
开始了, 有一个晚上的散会时间, 就有一个城中最有名的祷告会, 将近
BAD GUY 正走进来, Ps.TONY本想拒绝他进来, 因为那 BAD GUY 是城里最 坏并且懂得邪术之类的, 但是圣灵感动了他, 他就问那BAD GUY, 你想不
想得到一种SUPERNATURAL的POWER? 那BAD GUY说想之后,那BAD
GUY 和他的同党一起参加教. Ps.TONY就为他祷告, 感谢神! 他并没 有 闹事, 回去了。会的主日崇拜, 真的感谢神! 今天BAD GUY 已经变成NICE
GUY, 在耶稣基督里是新造的人, 而且还带领许许多多的小朋友, 还很讨小
朋友的喜悦, 看来不可能的事, 在神并没有难成的事, 神已经改变了他, 他
的生命就不再一样了!
信息结束后, Ps.TONY呼召凡有圣灵感动的人可以到台前来, 牧师会为我们 祷告。我也走到台前去, 因为这信息感动我, 我知道我是有限, 我知道我的
软弱更知道我需要神的帮助. 那信息让我知道神国度的事太重要, 去教会不
是参加聚会, 唱唱歌那么简单, 圣经教我们要思念天上的事, 而渺小的我又
能为主做什么呢？不是靠行为, 乃是靠恩典。因我们不是靠着我们属血气 的肉体, 乃是靠着万军之耶和华的圣名。感谢神, 今天我们不再被罪恶捆
绑乃是愿意受真理的约束, 我的祷告: 求主帮助祢自己的教会, 帮助祢自己
的子民, 帮助祢自己的孩子, 凡求告主名的, 祢都 赐下在祢面前, 我们愿意
学习像小孩子, 没有自大, 也不自夸, 只有恩典, 谦卑顺服祢的心, 求主帮助
我们。我们像施洗约翰所说: ”愿祢兴旺, 我必衰微“这34年走来不易, 让我
们真的是为主的教会而付出, 主必赐福! 一切的荣耀,尊贵,能力,爱戴都归
于我们的神,耶稣基督,也感谢圣灵的带领！阿们！

CBC Children from all the 5 Centers had their activity at the hall adjacent to the auditorium. The ‘Big People’ in lime green T shirts were the abled teachers and facilitators who provided fun and inspiration to the children.

 

When the altar call was given, more than a hundred people came forward to be prayed for. This was certainly the move of the Holy Spirit.

 

It was also a joyous day for many who accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Above, Chris, wife of Matthew Gan, was ‘born-again!’ Surrounded by happy greeters were Senior Pastor Richard Toh, Karen and Tian Ho, Kevin and Pastor Malcolm.
