Praise God for His
goodness, strength, and sustenance for me, Sis Suzie Lo and others of
CBC to complete this training program. The decision to enroll CMTP in
the first place was the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Our gracious Lord
says Eph 6:4 “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath
but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”
Our Lord looks to fathers to play a great role to bring their children up, to know Him, and eventually to accept Him as their personal Lord and Saviour, to please Him and to obey His commandments. This truth constrains me to play my primary role as a father, and my secondary role as a teacher to the children at CBC Sunday School.
CMTP indeed has been an “eye-opener“ for me in learning that each Sunday School bible lesson of one hour or so requires a great amount of adequate preparation - to do our best would be as if it is our last day on earth for our Lord. This is important in ensuring His Words are effectively taught to the little ones.
CMTP highlights the importance of children’s needs of salvation at an earliest possible age (i.e so long they can reason, differentiating between right and wrong.) The training teaches the Children Minister (Teacher) to help children to apply biblical truth in their daily lives.
The Children Minister, beside parents, plays a role in influencing a child’s life. A Teacher may teach a little by what he says; he teaches far more by what he does; but most by what he is. The training develops in us the characters required to be a good teacher. I guess the best part of this CMTP is to bring oneself to understand and observe children better at various age groups- their physical, emotional and most importantly, spiritual needs.
Stimulation of interaction and participation of children in class, criteria of good communication skill in teaching beside proper classroom management and to have good bible lesson plan, ways of building up children are just a few among other topics covered in the CMTP syllabus.
Our Lord has been faithful and have blessed many CMTP teachers for more than 20 years, through their involvement in the Children’s Ministry. CMTP is still going strong for the Lord. The harvest is plentiful but the workers are still few. At CBC, may the Lord equip more brothers to be in this Ministry to raise the little ones to be strong in the Lord. All glory goes to Him. Hallelujah!
