TESTIMONIES
The Lord Engineered the Circumstances

flowersIt all began last year when my family returned to Singapore for a break after the Vacation Bible School in November 2007. My Mum had always wished to return to Palembang (where Parameswara came from) our original home. Mum missed her family as it had been a long time since she last saw them. She could not leave Dad alone and so, she put aside this thought for some years.

Barely three days in Singapore, I heard Mum complain of back pain that extended down to her leg. I had wondered what could have caused this. Quering her, I discovered the cause – it was through mopping the floor, cooking, etc. The pain got worse the next morning. My sister and I brought her to our family doctor. She recommended a specialist for Mum, and we promptly sent her the next day when Peter and the boys returned to P.J.

The orthopaedic surgeon referred Mum to the Pain Team who are anaesthetists by profession. After an injection to her spine, Mum was still not relieved from the acute pain that pinched her nerve. It truly hurt my heart to see her in that condition. I cried much, pleading with the Lord Jesus to heal her.

I returned to P.J. with a heavy heart as soon as Mum was discharged from the hospital. During this time, my sister arranged for a maid to work for my parents. We prayed for God to send the right one.

As Mum’s follow-up appointment was in January, I returned to Singapore to accompany her, together with my sister. When I saw Mum, what greeted my eyes was totally contrasting to her last condition a month ago. Mum walked unaided and was not cringing her face in pain!

To cut the story short, Mum had asked me to accompany her to Palembang in April. That was accomplished and fulfilled by God’s grace and faithfulness. He healed Mum completely!

Reflecting on the crisis, I understand why it had to happen. Mum has always refused a maid in the house. She always could cope. So, the Lord engineered the circumstances in such a way that she would need a maid. When God gives, it is always the best. She follows Mum to church and has been enjoying the Indonesian fellowship.

The Lord fulfilled Mum’s heart’s desires. That truly delights her.

Isaiah 55: 8-9 says: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Hallelujah!
