Editorial

When the church adopted the theme, “The Year of the Lord’s Abundance,” what came to my mind was that blessings are going to flow endlessly. Little did I realize that we are also to receive in abundance - work, tears, and sorrow, alongside joy, laughter, and blessings (both physical and spiritual.)

We lost Philip Goh, a dear brother, at the beginning of the year. He fulfilled his purpose in serving in the Chinese Ministry, and his last call was a mission trip to China.

Change is always inevitable. At the turn of the year, Sister Kam Kiew handed her Children’s Ministry baton to Sister Suzie Lo after serving for 16 years. Time for change, and she stepped into the doorway of the Women’s Ministry. We thank God that it has been a smooth transition, as evidenced by a growing Children’s ministry.

We were also very encouraged to see new faces in missions with members willing to take up the challenge to teach what they have learnt, going into foreign soils. When God-given objectives are clear, and when done in obedience, will yield results beyond our expectations

.Myanmar’s doors are now wide-open for opportunities to be fulfilled by CBC members.

David Chee, our missionary to China, visited Japan, and discovered how missionaries have faithfully spread the Gospel for more than 50 years. Their love for abandoned children has given birth to  a new generation of dedicated servants of the Lord in Japan and elsewhere.

God also revealed His heart to us concerning His promises to the non-covenantal people, which He will fulfill before Christ’s return and the closing of the Age. These promises were made to Abraham through the descendants of Ishmael.

When God put us in a country like Malaysia, we need to ask, ‘What is God’s purpose for us here?’ Many shun the thought of witnessing to our spiritual ‘cousins’ and even say, that’s not my calling. Hey, remember the verse, ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself’? If you are not convicted, you need to ask God what that verse means! We need to love

in a totally new way, if we say, we love God.

I have included in this issue Bishop Hwa Yung’s article on Emigration. May the Lord encourage those remaining to be a strong witness for Him, as there is definitely a purpose for us to be born Malaysians! Our responsibility is to commit ourselves to God, seeking how we can best  fulfill His will here. To love Him is to obey Him. May we be found faithful to His call.

Luther says that a “true believer will crucify the question,’ WHY?’ He will obey without questioning.” Let’s not be those who, except they see signs and wonders, will in no wise believe. Obedience is the fruit of faith.

There is much to do while it is still light. “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

2 Corinthians 9:8.

Be fruitful & multiply!
