Welcome Speech by Senior Pastor Reynold

A warm welcome to Community Baptist Church (CBC)!

I am glad to meet you on this webpage. Together with CBC leaders and people, I do hope to be able to connect with you soon. We are a Cell Church that is Christ-centred, Spirit-filled, Bible-based, Family-focused and Mission-involved. We are unique, in a sense, as we are eighteen congregations in multi-site locations but together as ONE CBC with the same vision and mission to effect Kingdom Transformation to accomplish the Great Commission.

‘A Year of Revival Breakthrough’ will be the theme for 2024. We recognize that genuine revival is always sovereign in its origin. In other words, God determines the time and way in which He will revive His people. Nevertheless, He has also clearly established the terms by which He brings revival. 2 Chronicles 7:14 lists the four things that God requires of His people before He will revive them: #1 Humble ourselves. #2 Pray to God. #3 Seek God’s face. #4 Turn from our wicked ways.

Meeting these four requirements does not guarantee that revival will happen, but it does create an atmosphere in which it becomes possible and far more likely. As such, I am inviting CBC people to humble ourselves, pray to God, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways. And when God’s people meet His requirements, God promises to do three things - hear from heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land. If we, as a people, experience a true move of God in revival, we will see God’s power touch this world in a tremendous way! Revival in our hearts and church will create the spiritual dynamics that will impact our homes, our communities, our schools, our neighbours, nation and the world for the glory of God.

Our heart cry as a church is to become a passionate community of Christ’s disciples committed to the greatest commandment fulfilling the great commission. The Great Commission is not a special or unusual activity. It is not an additional ministry or program. It is not another duty or task we do amongst a list of competing priorities. It is not simply a church program. Rather, it is a natural, spontaneous way of life. As we are going through the world, let us be making disciples. It is the mission of every Christ’s disciple to join with God’s missional heart to ‘form ONE people from all people groups for His glory and worship.’

In 2024, let us make disciples in the natural process of daily living. It is the primary thing to do, the priority for Christians. And the Great Commission is the driving force of the Church. It is the motivating force for the growth of the church. We must not lose sight of this ultimate objective. Buildings, or programs, or institutions we built or economic power do not measure our success.

So, come, dearly beloved, I invite you to join with me to build inward into Jesus as He is the Vine and we are the branches. As branches in the Vine, we have the privilege of abiding and the responsibility of bearing fruit. We desire to see revival breakthrough in individual lives, across the family units, in LifeNet Small Groups and across Community Baptist Church, in our communities and in the nation. We desire to see the reaping of souls of men and women unto salvation in Jesus Christ, the breakthrough in Christian giving and generosity, the breakthrough in life transformation of CBC people, the breakthrough in raising a new generation of church leaders and ministers of the gospel, the breakthrough in positioning men and women as influencers in all spheres of influence in the nation, the fruit of good works and service and the fruit of praise and thanksgiving amongst Christ’s disciples.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).
